这张专辑是小泽征尔青年时期与芝加哥交响乐团、波士顿交响乐团合作录制的斯特拉文斯基作品集，属于索尼古典“High Performance”发烧系列。专辑的核心亮点在于两部芭蕾巨作的乐团与录音地各有分工：《彼得鲁什卡》（1947年版）由小泽征尔指挥波士顿交响乐团，于1969年11月在波士顿交响音乐厅录制；《春之祭》与《焰火》则由他指挥芝加哥交响乐团，分别于1968年7月1日和8日录于芝加哥管弦乐厅。此时小泽征尔年仅三十三四岁，正处其指挥生涯的上升期，唱片中呈现出的明快与才气被日本评论界形容为“年轻小泽潇洒的指挥身影”。
这一组合的斯特拉文斯基录音长期被视为小泽早期的重要代表作。日本《CD Journal》的评论认为，小泽在此展现的清晰与才气令人叹服，芝加哥交响乐团的《春之祭》固然出色，但与波士顿交响乐团合作的《彼得鲁什卡》尤其以“瑞气盈溢的感性”见长，演奏中几乎找不到粗糙之处。录音方面，《彼得鲁什卡》中的钢琴部分由当时担任波士顿交响乐团助理指挥的迈克尔·蒂尔森·托马斯演奏。

指挥家简介：
1959年，出生在中国东北沈阳的日本指挥家小泽征尔获得法国贝桑松国际指挥比赛第一名后，先后跟随指挥大师卡拉扬和伯恩斯坦学习。从1973年开始担任美国波士顿交响乐团音乐总监后，他跻身世界最优秀的指挥家行列。在波士顿近30年的指挥生涯中小泽征尔创造了古典乐坛的奇迹，使乐团成为国际上最优秀的交响乐团之一。1979年3月，他曾率该乐团成功地访问中国。2002年7月，当他从波士顿交响乐团音乐总监光荣卸任时，全体波士顿市民都对他表示了最高的敬意。他从2002－2003音乐季开始担任维也纳国家歌剧院的音乐总监，更增强了他在国际乐坛上的影响力和威望。

乐团简介：
波士顿交响乐团与芝加哥交响乐团均为美国五大管弦乐团成员。前者在小泽执掌前已由孟许、莱因斯多夫等人奠定法国与俄罗斯曲目的传统；后者在索尔蒂时代以凌厉的铜管与精准的合奏著称，小泽在此留下的《春之祭》正是这一乐团音响特质的体现。
