帕尔马·维尔是一位屡获殊荣的歌剧和器乐作曲家，他的音乐融合了西方传统和东方美学。他出生在德里，在一个充满印度古典音乐的家庭长大，14岁开始上作曲课。1983年，他移居英国，在达灵顿师从彼得·麦克斯韦·戴维斯，后来在市政厅音乐戏剧学院师从奥利弗·克努森。他对戏剧类型有着特殊的亲和力，他表演最多的作品包括Henze为慕尼黑双年展委托创作的歌剧《被众神夺走》与《断弦》以及在Aldeburgh Festival首演的长篇歌剧《 Ion》。在他的音乐会作品中，《马牙白岩》、《魔法生物剧场》和《Hayagriva》都从古代神话中汲取灵感，而《天地之间》的巨大管弦乐画布则唤起了阿尼什·卡普尔雕塑令人迷失方向的美丽。
