伦纳德·伯恩斯坦（Leonard Bernstein，1918–1990）是20世纪最具影响力的美国指挥家、作曲家、钢琴家与音乐教育家之一。他以卓越的指挥才能、鲜明的舞台魅力和深入浅出的音乐传播方式闻名于世，尤其擅长诠释美国音乐，同时在贝多芬、马勒、勃拉姆斯、柴科夫斯基等作曲家的作品中留下大量经典录音。1958年至1969年间，他担任纽约爱乐乐团音乐总监，将乐团带入新的艺术高峰。伯恩斯坦的指挥充满激情与戏剧性，同时注重作品的结构、节奏和色彩，使音乐具有强烈的现场感与感染力。创作涵盖交响曲《耶利米》《焦虑的年代》、音乐剧《西区故事》《在小镇上》，其中《奇妙的城镇》成为百老汇常演剧目。1969年起以客席指挥身份活跃于欧洲，与维也纳爱乐乐团长期合作。
