本专辑以20世纪前后的室内乐经典为核心，收录了罗马尼亚作曲家乔治・埃内斯库（George Enescu）的《C 大调弦乐八重奏》Op.7 与英国作曲家本杰明・布里顿（Benjamin Britten）的《泪》Op.48a。埃内斯库的弦乐八重奏创作于1900年（时年18-19岁），是其青年时期的巅峰之作，融合了罗马尼亚民族音乐元素与德奥浪漫主义的复调技法，1909年在巴黎首演后便成为弦乐室内乐文献中的瑰宝。布里顿的《泪》则源自1950年为中提琴与钢琴创作的Op.48，1976 年（作曲家晚年）改编为中提琴与弦乐团版本（Op.48a），以英国文艺复兴作曲家道兰的歌曲《若我的抱怨能触动情感》为主题，通过一系列变奏构建出深沉内敛的情感张力，堪称20世纪中提琴作品的典范。德国中提琴大师塔贝亚・齐默尔曼（Tabea Zimmermann）与汉堡共鸣合奏团（Ensemble Resonanz）的合作，既凸显了埃内斯库作品中八声部弦乐的层次对话，又精准捕捉了布里顿作品中中提琴与弦乐组的细腻呼应，为两首跨度近80年的作品赋予了统一的艺术质感。
